It is not uncommon to find programs that, after achieving remarkable success in other operating systems, make the switch to Windows, hoping to find the same success.
Evince wants to provide an alternative to the main document viewers that already exist on Windows, such as Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader.
It found success on Gnome, due to its simplicity and speed in displaying documents, and its low consumption of resources.
Evince provides an integrated search engine, a thumbnail display, printing function, encrypted document viewing, and of course, compatibility with popular document formats: PDF, Postscript, TIFF, DVI and DjVU.
On top of all this, its interface is very customizable, and it features display mode and full screen mode.
